Ended up speaking this Blues song......

‘In June, the Flax flowers turn blue….’

I got the Linen Field Blues,
Been workin from the dawn til dusk
I got no choice in it, has to be a must,
Scything and a cutting at the stems,
Pulling at the flax, got no slack,
The linen field’s breaking my back.

Oh I go tramping in the lint dam,
Breaking the Linen down’s a chore,
Making it right, lying in the Linen field,
Sun bleaching it on forty shades of green,
To be ready for a King or Queen,
Ulster’s heritage you see, wrought by me, daily.
♫♫
I got the Linen field blues,
I got to choose, or I lose,
My home and my family,
A roof oer my head and a bed,
Schooling for the bairns,
In a village of daily bread.

I got the Linen field blues, I got to choose or I lose, I got the Linen field blue……
♫♫♫
Every day feeling ill
Wive’s a scutching in the mill, (or working in the mill)
Makin Irish linen is a skill,
Weaving with the shuttle,
Putting the damask in the weave,
Get it right, or gotta leave.

I got a meet my Maker,
One day the undertaker
Will take me from place of recompense,
To a Home of benevolence.
Oh I’ll go trusting in the Lord,
Every Sunday heard his word.
♫♫
I got the Linen field blues,
I got to choose, or I lose,
My home and my family,
A roof oer my head and a bed,
Schooling for the bairns,
In a village of daily bread

I got the linen field blues. I got to choose, or I lose, I got the Linen field blue…… ♫♫♫

(Note’ blues’ falls away, ‘blue’ allows you to finish on a high note.)
